DO YOU HAVE SCOLIOSIS?
SPINECOR BRACE
Dr. Paul Oakley was among the first practitioners in the Greater Toronto Area to become Certified by The Spine Corporation Ltd., back in 2008. The SpineCor brace was the first dynamic, corrective brace designed to treat scoliosis — a lateral curvature of the spine. Originally developed to treat idiopathic juvenile scoliosis, it’s now used successfully with both children and adults.
In children, SpineCor has been shown to correct scoliotic deformities and help many patients avoid spinal fusion surgery altogether. In adults, it can ease chronic aches and back pain while improving spinal alignment over time. The brace was invented in Montreal by orthopedic surgeons Dr. Christine Coillard and Dr. Charles Rivard, and is now used by clinics around the world — it was even featured in Maclean’s magazine. Learn more about how it compares to ScoliBrace below.

SCOLIBRACE
Dr. Oakley was the first practitioner in Ontario certified in ScoliBrace — a super-corrective rigid brace that takes a different approach from SpineCor. Rather than simply supporting the spine, it’s designed to target an “over-correction,” gently guiding the curve toward a mirror image of the original deformity.
ScoliBrace was developed by Dr. Jeb McAviney of Australia, a former SpineCor employee who wanted to push rigid bracing further. Early results have been strong, with several published case reports and ongoing clinical trials. Many practitioners now see it as an emerging standard for moderate to severe scoliotic curves — explore our testimonials to see real patient outcomes.
